True Patriot Love: Maple Rosemary Simple Syrup
If you offered pancakes to a Canadian, they would only accept if REAL Maple Syrup was on the menu. Nothing says True Patriot Love like a sweet-toothed adoration for Maple Syrup. In honour of a Canada Day long weekend filled with late brunches, we’ve created Maple Syrup on crack. Now, we don’t mean to brag, but THIS is the good stuff. We might have just leveled up to Prof. status.
You all remember how to make simple syrup, right? Here’s a refresher for the new kids in the class.
The beauty of making simple syrup is that all you need are the right proportions, and then you can go wild. So put on your chemistry class goggles and get adventurous, you may just make something spectacular!
Maple Rosemary Simple Syrup
½ cup of Pure Maple Syrup
½ cup of Sugar
1 cup of Water
1 sprig of Rosemary
1 frying pan
1 big appetite
Ok, tell me how it’s done.
Combine the sugar, Maple Syrup, and water to your frying pan and whisk together.
Constantly stir on medium heat to avoid crystallization.
Okay, now tell us that this isn’t the BEST thing you’ve ever tasted! But actually, if taste buds could talk, there would be cheering after every sample. This simple syrup works its magic in a cocktail (more on that tomorrow…) but truth be told, we poured this bad boy over pancakes immediately after making it. These two Canadians just couldn’t resist. It was our civic duty. We stand on guard for thee!
