Public & Private events hosted by yours truly. Beer & Cheese tastings? Yup. Bourbon & Chocolate pairings. Done it too. We event take school busses to vineyards.
“The two tipsy teachers behind School House Booze, Rachel and Ashley, are here to teach your sorry vodka-soda-swilling self how to navigate a drinks list with supreme confidence.” – BlogTO
No textbooks or note taking required for this class. Just an open mind, empty glass and a spirit to learn.
Here’s to finding your signature cocktail, discovering the difference between lagers and ales, ordering with confidence, and everything else inbetween.
We know that a little education can go a long way, so learn along with us, top up your glass and become an A+ booze connoisseur!
Dubbed as the Tipsy Teachers, we ask the questions we were once too afraid to ask; what’s the difference between ales and lagers? Shaken and stirred? Do bitters make your drink bitter? Wait… you’re supposed to sip tequila? What’s on tap and what does draught even mean?
Before starting out on this boozy adventure, we found ourselves ordering the same drink all the time and came to the conclusion that there’s more to life than a vodka cran. Now we’re on a mission to learn all things alcohol and share our new knowledge with our readers!
Join the class to learn all about this wonderful, and sometimes confusing, world of booze.
With adventures that have taken her to more countries than you can count on your fingers and toes, Rachel finds it difficult to stay put. From riding camels, summiting Mt.Kilimanjaro, to sipping cocktails at the world’s highest bar, she’s bound to have a story to share. Now here’s where she gets sappy; of all the adventures she’s been on, School House Booze is by far her favourite. She loves the variety SHB brings; event planner, mixologist, photo styler, to home brewer, you name it! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that she gets to do it all with her best pal.
Coder and tech specialist by day, baker by night; Ashley finds no shortage of passions to occupy her busy schedule. She can wield a whisk and 3D print you a knick knack all in the same day! Ashley loves the intersection of food and making and her daydreams are full of specs for baking bots and inspector gadget tool belts. Through these blog adventures she’s learning how to be a foodie for booze! School House Booze lets her experiment with flavours – nothing like a city-wide taste test with your best friend!
You’d be crazy to think that we could do this all on our own. How would we manage the rowdy kids at the back of class with the spitballs? Our interns help keep School House Booze in tip-top shape, while bringing some textbook tipsy knowledge to the staff room.
From NYC to Vancity, across the pond, and back to Toronto, we have Supply Teachers from across the globe! These city savvy foodies, boozies, and health nuts are here to school you on everything from the history behind what’s in your glass to upcycling those old empties.
Although we would love to say that we just woke up one morning and knew all there was to know about booze, it would be a pretty big lie. If it weren’t for the wonderful mentors we’ve met along the way, we would still be stuck on post number one.
